Greengate Biogas appoints new Chief Executive Officer

Dublin, Ireland, 05 January 2026 – Greengate Biogas, a leading developer of biomethane projects in Ireland, is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Kane as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 December.

Charles Kane will lead the senior management team and be responsible for the company’s strategic governance and delivery of its biomethane development programme across Ireland.

He brings over a decade of senior leadership experience in anaerobic digestion (AD) and biomethane development, with a proven track record of taking large-scale projects from conception through development, operation, and exit. He has extensive experience delivering complex AD portfolios, managing funder relationships, and implementing industry-leading standards.

Prior to joining Greengate Biogas, Charle served as Sustainability Director at Ixora Energy Ltd./Engie in the UK, where he played a central role in developing 11 AD and biomethane facilities, with approximately £90 million in capital deployed. He was responsible for sustainability strategy, regulatory compliance, ISCC certification, feedstock strategy, digestate management, and energy offtake arrangements, while also leading initiatives in CO2 capture, gas blending, and process optimisation.

Charles holds an MBA with distinction from Harper Adams University and a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture from the University of Plymouth. He is a Lean Six Sigma trained and brings deep technical, commercial, and operational expertise to the role.

I am delighted to join Greengate Biogas at a critical stage for the company and for Ireland’s energy transition. Biomethane has a clear role to play in decarbonising Ireland’s gas network while supporting farmers and rural communities. I look forward to working with the team and our partners to deliver ‘best in class’ projects that create long-term value and real climate impact.
